The Grand River Greenway project is entering its final phase, promising major improvements for West Michigan’s riverside communities.
With a $150 million investment, 31 new miles of trails will be added by 2026, creating a nearly continuous greenway from Grand Haven to Lowell.
Once completed, more than 20 communities and hundreds of miles of existing trails will be connected, opening up new outdoor opportunities for residents across Kent and Ottawa counties.
Highlights include new trail links in Kent County, a significant pedestrian tunnel and bridge crossing, and the scenic Bass River segment tying Riverside Park to Bass River State Recreation Area.
The Eastmanville Connector and upgrades at Johnson Park will enhance access to nature and recreation, while the new Grand River Edges Trail in Grand Rapids will close a critical gap along the riverfront.
This collaborative initiative is set to boost recreation, economic growth, and environmental stewardship throughout the region.
